New movies January 2022: Scream, Hotel Transylvania, and more

January is rarely a big month for the movies, and this January is no exception. The movie that was poised to be the biggest box office hit of month was pushed to April thanks to the Omicron surge. But there’s still plenty to look forward to if you’re a movie fan.

Scream, the latest entry in the meta-slasher franchise, hits theaters on January 14. Much of the original core cast returns, including Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Neve Campbell. Ready Or Not’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett replace the late Wes Craven as directors.

Elsewhere, Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, and Lupita Nyong’o star in the spy action film The 355. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania premieres on Amazon Prime Video with Brian Hull replacing Adam Sandler as the voice of Count Dracula. Peter Dinklage stars as the titular character in the musical romantic drama Cyrano.
